Limitations and notes

The things worth knowing before you commit a design to a site.

It is an extension device, not a native lock

This driver presents the 2N as raw switches, inputs and call control for programming — not as a Crestron Home lock. There is no lock tile, no PIN user management and no access schedule here. If the customer wants the door to behave as a native Crestron Home lock, use the 2N Native Lock Driver. Both drivers can run on the same site against the same or different 2N devices.

Everything the driver does is gated on the licence

Switch, dial and hang-up actions do nothing until the driver is licensed (SKU CHTWONHW). Feedback — inputs, events and the diagnostics app — still works unlicensed, which can make an unlicensed driver look connected but inert. A licensed site comes back from a reboot licensed and connected on its own.

Some 2N control needs the device's own licence

Switch control can require the 2N's Enhanced Integration / Automation licence to be active on the device. The troubleshooter warns when it is missing. This is a 2N licence, separate from the LCD driver licence.

SIP call control needs a registered SIP account

Call Panels and End Call only connect a call when the 2N has a SIP account registered under Services → Phone (SIP). Without it, the actions are accepted but no call is placed. Switches and inputs are unaffected.

Inputs and events come from the event log

Input state and all device events are delivered through the 2N's event log, which the driver monitors continuously. This needs the account's Event log service to be granted. Input open/close reflects the 2N's own reporting (a closed contact reports as Closed).

Not every 2N event is surfaced

The driver monitors the 2N's full event set, but a few events it subscribes to have no Crestron Home surface by design — door held open too long and unauthorised door open are monitored for parity with the previous driver but are not raised as Crestron events. If you need those, raise it with LCD.

Platform

  • Crestron Home 4-series only (CP4-R, DIN-AP4-R and similar). 3-series is not supported.
  • The Setup & Diagnostics app ships inside the driver package, so it always matches the driver and works with no outbound internet. Updating the app means updating the driver.
