Using Vacation Mode
Going away and coming back
On the Vacation Mode tile's page:
- I'm going away starts Vacation Mode after a confirmation. The tile changes to Away.
- I'm back stops it straight away, with no confirmation, and recording carries on.
The Status line says what the house is doing:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| At home. The house is being recorded. | Recording every five minutes. |
| Vacation Mode is running - the house is replaying its recorded week. | Playing back the recorded week. |
| Vacation Mode is running - replaying what was recorded and simulating the rest. | Playing back what exists, and simulating the gaps. |
| Vacation Mode is running - the house is simulating a lived-in day. | Nothing recorded to replay yet, so it's simulating. |
| Cannot reach the processor's scene API… | Recording and playback are paused. Open Diagnostics & Setup and run the Troubleshooter. |
| Not licensed… | The driver needs a licence. I'm going away isn't shown until it has one. |
Vacation Mode can also be started and stopped from the Coverage tab in Diagnostics & Setup, and from programming. See Events and actions in programming.
Choosing rooms from the panel
Choose rooms opens a list of the house's rooms. Ticked rooms take part while away. This is the same setting as the Rooms tab in Diagnostics & Setup.
What happens while away
Every five minutes the driver recalls the scenes for that time of day, in the rooms that take part.
Replaying. Each room gets the scene that was on at that time on the same weekday of the recorded week. If that slot was never recorded, the driver uses the same time on a complete day instead. The recording itself is never changed.
Simulating. Each room is switched with its All On and All Off lighting scenes:
- Morning. One or two rooms come on between 06:30 and 08:00, for 45 to 90 minutes.
- Day. Nothing.
- Evening. Rooms come on one after another over about an hour and a half, starting 30 minutes before local sunset. The start is kept between 16:00 and 20:30.
- Night. Rooms go off one by one. The last light goes out between 22:30 and 23:30.
Each day is different, but a restart during the evening picks up the same day where it left off.
Replaying and simulating. Recorded slots are replayed. Where nothing was recorded, that slot is simulated.
The driver doesn't record while Vacation Mode is on, so the simulation is never recorded over the real week. Record now is turned off in Diagnostics & Setup for the same reason.
After a power cut or restart
Vacation Mode stays on after the processor restarts, and carries on in the same mode.
Watching what it's doing
The Activity tab in Diagnostics & Setup lists the last 50 things the driver did, newest first: each recording, each replay, and when Vacation Mode started and stopped. A replay borrowed from a complete day says so, and so does a simulated one. The list starts empty after the driver restarts.
