Signing in to LCD apps
The Product & licence page and the setup app of every LCD Crestron Home driver ask you to sign in before they open. You sign in with an account on the processor itself, the same username and password you use for the processor's web pages.
Sign-in arrived in these driver versions:
| Driver | Version |
|---|---|
| 2N Lock | 1.0.101 |
| 2N Doorstation | 1.0.60 |
| UI Dynamic | 1.0.70 |
| Vacation Lighting Scheduler | 5.0.48 |
| Sonos Chime | 5.0.46 |
| Alarm Clock | 5.0.37 |
| LCD Dashboard | 1.0.178 |
| Ajax Security | 2.7.6 |
Which accounts can sign in
- Processor administrators, the accounts with the Administrator access level.
- Members of a group called
LCD. Use this for an engineer who should open the LCD apps without being a processor administrator.
An account that is neither sees "This account can't open LCD apps. Ask the processor's administrator to add it to the LCD group."
Setting up the LCD group
- In the processor's user management, create a group named LCD with the User access level.
- Add the accounts that should open the LCD apps to that group.
The group name isn't case sensitive. One group covers every LCD driver on the processor.
Wrong passwords
A wrong password at the LCD sign-in counts towards the processor's own lockout, which locks the account everywhere, including the processor's web pages. To protect you from that, the LCD sign-in pauses an account for 2 minutes after 2 wrong passwords. After the pause it allows one try at a time.
- After the first wrong password the form says "One more wrong try pauses sign-in for this account for 2 minutes."
- While an account is paused, the form says until when. Use another account, or wait.
- If the processor has locked the account, wait for its lock to end, or clear it from the processor console
with
remlockeduser <username>.
The browser's certificate warning
The apps open over https. The processor uses its own certificate, which browsers don't recognise, so the first time you open an LCD app on a device the browser shows a warning. Accept it once for the processor's address and the browser remembers it.
| Browser | What to do |
|---|---|
| Chrome / Edge | Select Advanced, then Continue to (or Proceed to) the processor's address. |
| Safari (Mac, iPhone, iPad) | Select Show Details, then visit this website, and confirm. |
| Firefox | Select Advanced, then Accept the Risk and Continue. |
Staying signed in
You stay signed in for up to 8 hours, or until you've done nothing for 30 minutes. A driver's Product & licence page and its setup app share one sign-in.
Sign out is at the top of each app (in the Dashboard, beside the version line). Signing out ends the session at once.
Buttons that change things
Buttons that change something, such as a test unlock, saving settings or running a report, work from inside the app only. Opening the same address from a bookmark or a link does nothing.
Security settings
Each driver's setup app has a Settings tab with a Security section. It has two switches. Both start at the secure choice, and a change applies straight away.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Require sign-in | On | Asks for the processor's username and password before this driver's pages open. |
| Allow sign-in over http | Off | Also accepts sign-in from pages opened over http, for processors with https turned off. |
Both are per driver. Turning either away from its default asks you to confirm first.
- Require sign-in off. Anyone on the home network can open this driver's pages and change its settings. Requests from other websites are still refused. You can still sign in, and the app still shows Sign out.
- Allow sign-in over http on. The processor password crosses the network unencrypted when you sign in over http. Use it only when the processor has https turned off. The driver's links then open over http.
